I like the Dalai Lama,but that doesn't mean that I'm a buddhist.
:D
I don't think you like the Dalai Lama nearly as much as you like Castro...

I don't know what country you are in so I can't possibly answer that. You sure ask a lot of questions. As for trying to solicit intelligence, here, well that would be a waste of time :p .

That brings up an interesting point. Everyone thinks this dude in the letter (or article or whatever) that this thread is ostensibly about is being intimidated by the government for what he says he knows. Has anyone thought about what else could be going on. Maybe he is already affiliated with Chavez, the man who has directly threatened the United States. Maybe he isn't telling you everything. Maybe he is spying, spreading disinformation and propaganda, and was a valid target of suspicion. Maybe he had to leave the country and flee for Venezuela all right, never to return.

Since there are a lot of accusations about people swallowing everything they hear. That goes both ways.

P.S. I just realized your post wasn't for me. Sorry. I think that means it's past my bedtime.Yep...for a minute I actually thought I had posted this for you then, realized it was for dave...Up too late myself.

No to solicite for intelligence here...at least when I'm not online:D

Of course not.. you have visited my country about six times and cannot bring yourself to say one positive thing about it, or anyone who lives here.

Yep, I've visited your country.
And no, I have said positive things about your country and Americans.
try reading my posts - instead of making assumptions.

You visited Cuba twice and can't stop singing its praises, stating in fact, that you have seen nothing, nothing mind you, to make you believe what human rights organizations, including those at the UN, say about Cuba. You are completely offended that I would make "condescending remarks" about Venezuela.

I visited Cuba twice - and I found Cuba and it's people to be very nice.
I stated that what you posted as "facts" about Cuba, did not concur with what I saw in Cuba - nor did your "facts" concur with the conversations that I had with any Cuban who I spoke to in Cuba.

Then again - you've never been to Cuba - so I think your "facts" do not equate to much.

You are completely offended that I would make "condescending remarks" about Venezuela.

I said that your remarks about Venezuela were condescending.
And they were - condescending.

I am told I don't even know what communist means. Is Fidel Castro a communist? Is that too much for you? Since you like him so much and think communist Cuba is so successful, and a victim of the US, then how are you not a communist sympathizer? What have you said that was not sympathetic? "Ireland and Cuba have a great affinity." But call you a communist sympathizer and I am insulting you? All your statements have proven that you like it, so why are you offended?

I'm not a communist or a communist sympathiser.
Is Castro a Communist? I don't know - much less care to be honest.

You claim that I like Castro? Where did I say I like castro?

I think Cuba is a reasonably successful country - given the conditions and the embargo that your country attempts to put in place upon it.

In respect of an affinity between Ireland and Cuba - there is a great affinity.
Ireland enjoys a great affinity with a number of Latin American countries.
Thems the facts.

I can vouch for Lim in this respect, although we have had our disagreements in the past, he has said positive things about the u.s. & he has visited here; n.y, if i'm not mistaken among other places.
On another note, THERE IS A DIFFERENCE between communists, marxists, leninists, marxist/leninists, socialists, ect... So one should be careful to avoid throwing around such generalizations founded upon a few sentences in a particular thread.

Anybody that visits NYC and still has positive things to say about America must not be right.

New York's a great city.
Been fortunate to visit there.
Gleasons Gym on Font St, beside the Brooklyn Bridge, The Marshall Chess club and watching the men play chess in Central Park.
Where else would you get it?
Great place.

Even Americans....(other than New Yawkers) don't like New York.

If you liked it there...then you are never allowed to bash America again.

Seriously.

No really....seriously.

NYC, former capitol of the country where G.Washington. gave his 1st inaugural speech. It has a significance for me. All countries have their good points. Right now i'm reading about pre-christian Rome from where republican gov't originated.
Tourists pose under the statue of Washington outside the Federal Hall Memorial in lower Manhattan, site of Washington's first inauguration as President

I wasn't aware that New Amsterdam was the former capital city of the US.
I've learnt something new.

The government taxed round about 45% of our single income, so it was tough. Gotta pay health insurance. Then there are our bicycles :) .

Sorry I've been late on my responses...must have been too busy lately riding my bike. Well, as David Lee Roth once said, "I don't feel tardy". :) Imagine that! Some of us still ride 150+ miles a week, instead of sitting on our new sofas bitching about our taxes.

Typical of the faux-patriots on the Right-Wing though, isn't it? The lack of expendable income couldn't possibly be because of price gouging for fuel/energy, health care, food, rent/housing upkeep - and just about every other basic neccesity you need to live. Not to mention shitty wages & benefits that only ever seem to stagnate or go lower. Tell me, who in your measly world still has a pension plan left at their job that hasn't been raided by your worshipped, so-called "benefactors"?

Contrary to popular right-wing belief around here, I'm not pre-occupied with "hate, loathing, and impotent fury", nor "spending my life tormented", nor am I "jealous" of whatever lifestyle you lead. Mine is just fine, thank you. But if railing against the Corporate Machine and their political puppets gets construed as such then, eh...so be it.

Wait...I think it's about time for another commercial message from Ford, Honda, Audi, Pfizer, Target, and "CSI Miami"...in that order.

.
The "facts" are that multiple "human rights organizations" say that Castro puts people in jail for criticizing the government.

You went to Cuba and did not hear anyone criticize the government.

Hmmmmm. I guess that doesn't equate to much.

On another note, THERE IS A DIFFERENCE between communists, marxists, leninists, marxist/leninists, socialists, ect... So one should be careful to avoid throwing around such generalizations founded upon a few sentences in a particular thread. With all due respect, I think you are just splitting hairs. Such generalizations are founded on lots of sentences in lots of threads, and an entire world-view that is evident here.

Should I say "communist/leninist/marxist-leninist/socialist, etc." for clarity? In the interest of time I will stick with communist, or "commie" for short. Or godless commie dupe, as stevebaby has suggested. That is probably the most accurate.

Strangely, everyone seems to get their panties all in a bunch at the idea of even being associated with commies.

I noticed your list of types left out Stalinists. See, that's a modern day propaganda tactic, designed to distance "communism" from Stalin. Except every example of communism as applied to REALITY is dismal.
