I see a lot of U.S.A. Bashing on this forum, very sad... I see many Anti-American Threads left on to run there boring course, but any time a Anti-UK thread is started, ( no matter how unintelligent ) It is quickly taken off and member deleted... I think that most US members dont realize this and join to easily get mocked by the UK moral majority on CF.. I geuss CF is run by brits for brits and most moderators are brits? I Assume this thread will be deleted and I will be thrown off now... bye..

Hi there,
I see a lot of anti-bush posts, yes. No one in the soap box bashes Americans in any serious way though.
I'll always hate Bush and like Americans...its a problem most Brits face. being labeled anti-american just because we are anti-bush...
there seems no way for an American to distinguish between the two sadly...
In the grand tours forum the problem is much worse..

I Assume this thread will be deleted and I will be thrown off now... bye.. If you had taken the time to read much of what gets posted here (which you obviously haven't) you would find that many of the british members are critical of the actions of their own government, more so than any of the american members.
"Anti-british"threads get taken off because they usually degenerate very quickly into threats of violence and obscenity, not because they make any valid criticisms. The banned posters almost always conform to a particular stereotype which refuses to accept any criticism of the us and which responds to any criticism by simply screaming,ad nauseam, that america is the best at everything and refusing to face facts to the contrary.Jingoistic pap about the superiority of the american way of life and american "freedom" and "democracy" are never going to win friends for america.Neither will posting pics of the american flag and shouting "euro losers".
Cyclingforums is actually based in australia. It isn't run for the benefit of any particular national group. It's an international forum with the common theme being the english language. What appears to get up the nose of more than a few americans is that they are unable to dominate the forum in the same way they can militarily dominate the rest of the world. That isn't evidence of superiority...it merely demonstrates that americans are far more willing to use violence as a means to an end and don't mind paying a higher percentage of their GDP on weapons than almost any other country in the western world.I believe the exception is.... leichtenstein.
Most of the americans on the forum (including the ones I personally disagree with, i.e. most of them LOL) quickly develop a thick hide and, more importantly,a sense of humour. If you can't do that, noone will care very much if you drop off, including the many thoughtful, intelligent, decent and good-humoured americans who must be embarrassed by some of the crap that gets posted in their name.
If that hurts your feelings...call an ambulance.

I'm a patriot who's embarassed of his president. Bush would say I'm unAmerican - more lies from the white house.I am equally embassased of the relationship between Blair and Bush. Britian is an ally of the USA. Thats fine, but the amount of arselicking that Blair does is making of a mockery of my country and the people who live here. Bush says jump, and Blair says...well, you know the rest.
Its Blair, yes Blair that is partly responsible for massive British dismay of American foreign policy. Over 70% of the UK doesnt support the war in Iraq/Afghan/Iran. These are wars where our soldiers are or will be fighting. No one here supports the war in Lebanon including most of the cabinet.
Its a plain embarassing situation.
I would like to distance the UK from the US politically but not lose them as an ally.
As for Americans, thier just like the rest of us, mostly decent with a small percentage of morons. My experience of most Americans is a very positive one. Hard working and genuinley friendly.

It's a --ing dictatorship and our representatives (MPs) don't have the bollocks to stand up to Blair. In fact a few of them are very keen on making it impossible for us to peacefully (and hitherto lawfully) demonstrate.

We are combined under the common banner of the bicycle. Once under that banner, we beat each other up. Perhaps we could learn to work a little better together;
1. The correct spelling is the spelling of your country of origion. We all know that tyre and tire is the same word. 'z' and 's' look pretty similar. As a kiwi who lived in Australia since 1982 should I be using the spelling 'goal' or 'jail'. Who cares.
2. Measurements. Apart from temperature, it isn't that hard to convert it. Just stick in the figure you are use to and the readers can convert it if they want. I have a joke that goes; the Americans got rid of the brits in 1776, in Australia we never got rid of the brits but we got rid of their measurement system. Having said that you should critise me for still using psi, despite NZ going metric in 1972. Europeans should just use bar and its the rest of us that should convert it.
3. Religion and Politics. Apart from how tight you can wear your cycling shorts, religion has nothing to do with cycling. Politics is about lobying for better cycling facilities. Saw some stats the other day that showed that Neterlands was the most popular place to cycle and had the lowest accident rate in comparision with the popularity. USA was the bottom of the list for safety and popularity and Australia faired a little better but was a long way off the Neterlands. France was lower than you would of expected. According to some of the ladys I know, USA has had the best looking president (Clinton) :). The same ladys singger when Johnny Howard is mentioned, from a looks view point. Bob Hawke was probably Australia's equivilant to Clinton. A lot of Australians thought of Keating as a bastard, but after he won the unwinable election, he was thought of as the smart bastard. NZ had David Langie (spelling?)..... As you can see none of this has anything to do with cycling, apart from getting better facilities for riding. Back to keating, he was rude and arragent, which brings me to my next point;
4. Manners and Respect. If you are rude to someone, you do not acheive anything apart from lower yourself. If someone is rude to you, try not to lower yourself to their level. Tell them you are not happy with what they have written and move on. I am guilty of this and need to improve here. I have read a number of threads about helmet wearing that have degenerated into slanging matches. Say your opinion and move on. You can decide if New helmet is better than leather helmet, or if its a waste of time to wear one. Shoulld we wear team colours, what about a 45 year old wearing a white jersey. Say what you think and respect that others think differently.
5. Sex. Who can resist a man in lycra. Jokes aside, try not use terms that could accidently offend people who are different to you. Often the term "gay" is used as a negative description of something, you could be accidently offending someone. I made a joke about that you should feel complemented if someone called you gay as gays are usually the best looking guys and someone took offence to it, so I accidently offended someone. Same could be said for making comments like 'I rode like a girl'.
6. Country of origion. Lets critise someone because the temperature of the beer is different to that in your country. Get real.
7. Other peoples forums. Non Aussies in the Australian forum. Men in the Womans forum. Resist making a post unless you really think that you can contribute. When you do decide to post, let the posters know that you are outside the bounds of the forum and explain why you are making the post. That way you can be seen as contributing rather than interfering. I'm a roadie, but I have posted in mountain bike forums, when I felt I could contribute to the topic.
8. Profanities. Common sense would say.... However what does everyone else think?
Let me know what you think of these points. Do you agree, disagree and why.

Eldron's advice:
Cry us a river - boo hoo - then build a bridge and get over it.
Nothing personal - I hate everybody.
ps: learn the difference between their and there - that's why I hate americans - they can't spell worth doggy poo.
That and because you're fat, overpatriotic, world series playing, pollution causing, carbon dioxide belching, war waging, rah rah america, loud, obnoxious, suck at real sports, indian killing, finger pointing merkins.
Other than that I really like americans - pan fried with a good merlot.
Ok ok now that you're boiling mad - I was just kidding...
Some of my best friends are americans :D
It's those aussies I really dislike (feeling better stevebaby - I know you were complaining about oz not receiving it's fair share of hate postings lately).
The french suck too :)

It's obvious that Craggy Islanders are the best people in the world...and the best cyclists. If it hadn't been for those perfidious australians switching the urine samples then it would have been Dougal Maguire standing on the podium instead of Robbie McEwen.
Dougal's record of 7 straight wins in the TdCI proves that he is the greatest cyclist of all time and by extension, that Craggy Island is the greatest country in the world and we Craggy Islanders are the best at everything so nyaa nyaa nyaa.
The failed drug test was an australian plot. They've been jealous of our freedom for years. It's patently obvious that a sample containing 99% household cleaning agents had to have come from Father Hackett, the australian TeamEcumenical masseur had connections to an extremely suspicious supplier of sandwich trays and tea is not on the UCI banned list nor has it been proven to be a masking agent.
The truth will come out and when it does we'll pull the plug on their shitty little island and their french and german neighbours and let it sink back into obscurity in Lake Geneva...or wherever they are.
Feckin' aussies can't play rugby either. They're a bunch of purse-carrying jessies who never beat anyone who counted...ever.

Basically, Bush says we're going to war...Blair follows suit. MPs are too spinless to say no. Citizens dont have the power to say no.
So America profits from war, we lose soldiers, money and machines in a war that has absolutley nothing to do with us.
People ask why the UK is anti-American..

There is no evidence that the Conservatives will do any different. The Conservative party supported the war in the first place, but Cameron is blaming TB for hoodwinking him with the "Dodgy Dossier"...
The thing is 80% of the UK wasn't fooled by Tony's "Dodgy Dossier", and yet the Conservative party (incl. Cameron) fell for it hook line and sinker. Given the track record I fully expect a Conservative government to carry out US policy to the letter, the only material difference is that they'll blame the US for lying to them.

Certain American corporations profit from the war. But America, on the whole, is losing big...I saw the figure of a trillion dollars as the cost of the war, projected up to 2014.
That could have paid for a lot of hospitals, schools and alternative energy research, and saved a lot of american and iraqi lives.

Let's face it DB, if it wasn't for us explaining Zionism on this board, the Americans, who aren't told anything would think that the $14 billion the USA fund the Zionist Terrorists was for use by jews in Israel. Which it isn't.

Blair is the guy right at the top. Above him there are national defence people. This has to be considered very carefully. If Blair decided to split with the U.S. this would have serious consequences. The U.K. would have to ally itself with Europe instead but there would be economic and political aspects to consider.
You have to think, Mountain Pro, what you would seriously do if you were in Blair's position. I'm sure Blair has argued his case with Bush in the background but, at the end of the day, to split with the U.S. would be risky. The U.K, still depends on the U.S. for defence. The economy is still pretty close to the U.S.
The guys at the top know America suffered a major terrorist attack and that things have changed somewhat. Somebody has to make the decision as to what is in the best interests of national defence, industry and the whole Transatlantic arrangement. One thing is clear: You can't be without allies. It's either the U.S. or Europe and, let's get real: Europe is an economic superpower but it's militarily very weak. The U.S. and Russia are way way beyond Europe militarily at this point.
I think that if Blair was to wobble in some kind of support of the Arabs, it would be catastrophic for the national interest. America would never forget it and they're a powerful ally to drop without carefully thinking it through.
Just my take on the issue.

Basically, I don't vote. The Tories would be just as close to Bush, I think. Having said that, I doubt the Republicans will get a third term so we could be seeing good ol Hilary in the White House.
What I really don't get about the Tories is how come they say they need to ditch the human rights charter to solve national security. I think that's crap. France signed up to the human rights agreement and it still does what it wants to do. I think they're looking for excuses to ditch human rights and just making it up.

I oppose George Bush's foreign policies.
I also think his monetary policy for the ordinary American is reckless - in the long term.
Does that make me anti-American?
I don't think so.
