Ergomo Sport charger problem

Since 2001, over 90,000 cyclist's have joined Cycling Forums to discuss topics from general cycling to equipment, training, racing and travel or vacation destinations (especially in europe during the tour de france). We also feature an great deals in our online store, 100's of articles, classifieds and product reviews.

I have an Ergomo Sport, purchased end of 2004. However, I never got around to using the product until June this year. The computer has “frozen” on me twice (and it's still frozen). I learned from the manufacturer of the Ergomo Pro that the problem lies with the charger. Apparently a new type of charger was once available free of cost, but the company which manufactured the Ergomo Sport went bankrupt and the new company doesn't carry the new charger.

My question is… does anybody know if it is possible to buy a charger (with similar specs for volts and milliamps) from an electrical shop and rewire it with the cable and plug from the old charger? I am thinking that somebody else may already have had the same problem as me and found a solution.
