thanks for posting that wilchemy, I was starting to get the guilts posting in a socalled cycling forum with my current lack of riding. My bikes look at me accusingly and mumble resentfully about being reduced to objets d'art.
Oh and what's ya shoe size?

Just back from Calga. HDT picked up a neat 2nd.
My weekend is cursed. Last nights racing can be summed up with the word "indecision". 5th in a wheelrace that I should have won easily because I hestitated not once, but 3 times!! What a friggin loser. Then I did the same thing in the Keiren and got myself well and truly boxed. In the pointscore miss and out thing I fell asleep and got ejected with only half the field gone. Duh.
To cap things off I broke yet another spoke on the front wheel just toddling around behind the derny. WTF??!!?? $75 bucks worth of DT Swiss lacing to be done to purge the crap spoke from the wheel. Do you ever stop spending money in this sport???
Today no ride. Tomorrow's forecast: no ride. AAAAARRRRGGGHHH!! It's sunny outside... lemme play FFS.

Oh yeah, two spectacular high speed crashes last night in the combines.
6 riders down in each, massive bike damage (including one frame snapped in half and one rear wheel with almost every spoke torn out!!!), lotsa track burns and sore heads, arms, legs, etc.

how did each crash start?

how did each crash start?A combine is an attempt to give riders a look at racing in the grade above their current level. So you would have (say) eager Div 4 riders racing alongside the Div 3 riders who didn't wan't to race against Div 2 riders.
It's a really good concept except the higher grade riders don't 'look after' the lower grade riders. The problem is that the higher grade riders can be toddling along at a comfy race pace but the lower grade riders will be on the limit (not to mention tired from a night's racing). Riders on the limit tend to make bad decisions.
The first crash started with a Div 4 rider who has the power and speed to ride Div 3 putting himself into an 'unfavourable' position. Lack of experience.
Second was the result of an inexplicable front wheel washout. The commissaire found no problem with the wheel, gluing, or track. I can only think the guy got an elbow brush that he "just didn't feel" (that's code for he knows exactly who TMF is and there's gonna be big trouble next week).

Bummer dude! You one of the bad back brigade? Or the titanium rod collarbone brigade? :p
As soon as I'm happy the breakfast porridge isn't going to come back up, Mr Matagi and I are hitting the road. Sunny, 15 degrees and rising, and Essendon won. :)

Some people are strange, the guy next door is trying to trim the grass in his paddock (1/2 acre) with a whipper snipper. Mr Matagi is trying hard to resist the urge to jump on the ride-on and parade up and down the driveway. :D
BTW, did I mention Essendon won?

Yep, I'm a member of the BBB :(
Hopefully the physio will let me get back on the bike this week.
I feel your neighbour's pain... I have 2 acres to keep clear with a brushcutter (cos it's too hilly/rough for any sort of mower) ... but if he's on flat-ish land, hell yeah, parade away... go past the front of his place a few times too :D
Essen... who? oh, riiight, footy.
Bring on the cricket :)

cheers jock, but gee talk about making all the mistakes possile....
wsnt feeling v well, certainly no where near as good as last time out there. HR was way up and i was jsut suffering in general. where i can normally drive the pace up blood i was struggling to hang on.
last kilometer and one of the CCCC guys ( who eventually got 3rd) called for the 2 in front to go so i jumped past him and onto there rear. Now the real stupidit begins. for a breif second i thougt i had the legs to make a break for the end. eeeerrrmmm no. 10 pedal strokes later and i dound mself giving a nice leadout. idiot. holding on for 2nd was good given how i felt anyhows! close sprint tho!

Well if you can manage 2nd when not feeling well and making a lot of mistakes, just think how well you will go when you're feeling 100% and not making any mistakes.
Congrats on the result, BTW.
