While we're on the subject of effort....
there's a delusional young frame building aspirant on the loose over in another thread. You might need to go over there and help thylo http://www.cyclingforums.com/t357520.html
Very nice work with the double referal too stevebaby. Cheers!

The big problem with the roadie gang is that they're even bigger brand whores than the MTBers. 90% of them will quite happily shell out 7 grand for a piece of shit Bianchi thinking it's actually good, but 7 grand on a handmade custom bike from a freaky streetwise design company from Melbourne is a slightly harder sell.
OK, so Bianchi is shit, I've read from you on the other forum that Giant is shit. So, I can probably safely assume that every well known brand is shit. Other Ti makers are shit, all Alloy frames are shit, and CF... of course it's shit.
How DID the cycling industry get by before Thylacine ? Those poor fools, decades of framebuilders and they were all doing it wrong.
We can only hope that Europe, Asia and the US will come to their senses one day and they will all be knocking at your door hoping for a piece of your wisdom.
(I'm sure your comments are partly tongue in cheek, so you can take my comment with the amount of humour you post with... :p )

Thylo lives in a world where bastards like me covet his wares with no money to pay for them. Let's put things in perspective: I'm >40, might as well be classed as a noob, and have a medium sized family to rear/protect, have a family budget that is 110% loaded each week.
So for roughly the same price as one of Thylo's Ti creations I have been able to buy a training bike, crit racer, and 1/2 a track bike. It costs me about $3000 per year to keep them all in working order, and after two years (40000km) the training frame is totally shagged at the BB.
So what Thylo rants on about is on two fronts: competing with mass production that can see tarts like me buy a stock of bike like that and competing with local 'custom' frame builders.
He's not the messiah, he's just a very naughty frame builder. He hasn't sold a single frame to us wankers on TAT/TAN, but I'm pretty sure we would all love to own one or two if we could open our purse strings a little more.

While I admit to being a total noob to the cycling world, I do know a bit about some other industries / obsessions that have incredibly similar markets, problems and characters.
What I don't get, is how everyone else in the world is shit, while a relative newcomer to the industry who sells a couple of dozen frames a year is an "industry maven" who knows all.
As I said above, I hope the posts are done tounge in cheek.

better than I expected for a cheapish aluminium frame.
More comfortable than I expected.

For the record Hamilton did not cheat, it was his vanished twing.
Ed073, kindly pissoff, I'm sitting here wired on painkillers and muscle
relaxers after picking up a 10l steel scuba cylinder and some wanker
bumping into me (wrenched back), I figure it's your fault for bringing
up the back issue (was that here or at BF?).
Wattsy, don't wanna sound too seppoish or crass but been there
done that, and yes it does get better. My best advice? don't do
anything too stupid (if that sounds off read above to Ed073 again).
Any of you blokes know a guy around Bondi by the name of Ben?
seeks out old track iron, sells a bit on ebay and always has some
really interesting stuff (not just Malvern 5 stars either).
It's 41C here, not a fargin cloud in the sky and hasn't rained it over

Don't know the guy as such, but hubby bought me a frame from him a few months ago. (we are making it up with a mix of Shimano 600 and 10sp Ultegra) Unfortunately, he had no idea who the maker was. :( He has a couple of interesting things on Ebay at the moment.
Anyone out there fancy themselves as a frame identifier? I'll post a couple of pics if someone thinks they might be able to recognise an 80's possibly early 90's frame.
And it's 10C and raining here. Oh well, at least the water tanks are getting filled.
