Anyone else getting creeped out by the fact that not one mod has sed g'day yet? They'd have to be taking a peek every now and then, especially when an MA15+ thread gets 3000 hits a day for no good reason.I was wondering too but there's no mod for these here parts. Looky here (http://www.cyclingforums.com/showgroups.php?)

Race report from FNWTR: untidy!
Feature race was a 1500m graded wheelrace. Div 4 guy polaxed everyone off 200m, including the scratchies who started well and formed up quickly into a train and then just cracked. Get used to that word because it featured in just about every race afterwards.
Div 4 Italian was scrambled eggs. I think one of the teams won, but it was hard to work out who was who. Div 3 was the craziest thing you'd ever see with one team cracked into 4 parts and the other winning with their anchor man falling 150m behind the train with 4 laps to go!!! WTF??!? Div 2 was won by the team who managed to keep their anchor man on... see a trend forming here? Well it carried on into Div 1 as well!!! A brilliant team ride resulted in an unexpected 'catch' victory - on the anchor man who had, well, cracked.
Best race of the night was the Div 3 point-a-lap featuring CCCC rider M. Smith winning in fine style. It was his first outing since 2005 and broke away on lap 5 to win four points straight, with the pack only 10m behind on the last two. How does that work??? Doesn't for me! :( Anyway it wasn't enough points for a win, but help was at hand - from the commentator! He coached another CCCC into stealing points away from other potential victors as he called the race!!! Bloody brilliant. I stuffed my race up (and another poor sod's) and finished about third I think.
And the crashfest combines at the end of the night went off without a hitch. I think there were plenty of tired and aching legs out there because they were run at a true 'warm down' pace!!!
very funny night. top fun.

Except for outbursts like mine. Sorry about that one. The buzz from performing got turned to fury upon realizing that despite feeding a meter after 8pm I still score another parking ticket. WTF are the rangers still traipsing around for after 9pm?
Bondi Junction though is a complete joke. There would be a parking cop for every 100m of fotpath there. Nearly all truck zone, with a smattering of always full loading zones so they can rake in max revenue. I drive a van, it's 2.2m high with ladders on, so parking stations arent an option, and despite paying commercial rates for rego and insurance, I get less options than the soccer mums volvo. I truly am going to have to boycott jobs there. Sorry I can't afford to fix your plumbing. I just got asked to do a pub refit there at the mall, would take weeks. No can do.
My business is primarily maintainence, thats often 5 or more mostly city locations a day, I simply cannot park more than 100m away and be running back and forth for tools and materials. Stopping work every 30 minutes to go feed a meter or try find another park is great fun.
That was my third ticket in two weeks, $300 non tax deductible straight off my hardearned, and lean profit margin. I pay thousands in parking fines per year just to get to jobs. The cheapest ticket out there is $77, exactly my minimum charge. I love driving to a job and then fixing shit for free. I can even work all day and go backwards. What fun. Maybe my clients should just make my cheque out to the council. Now we've got hundreds of private contractors writing tickets for the councils its really getting ludicrous; totally ruthless. Something HAS to change, and it shouldnt have to be my career.
I'm happy to pay some kind of commercial vehicle parking subscription surcharge, if they invent it. I spoke to Waverley council about parking for that job in the mall. Yes, I can apply for a 'construction zone' at $80 a day per space  It'll still have a bloody 4wd in it when I try to use it.
Alright, I think I've got that out of my system for the week, rant off.

no point trashing abh. He has shown time and time again he is a redneck and doesnt get the point. Numerous times Thylo has pointed out his errors in an non aggressive way but it has never worked, and by the looks of it so has many other members.
Haters like him aren't worth the time you give them.

Hey bbp, seriously, maybe you need to build in parking fines or the cost of special permits into your quotes, depending on location.
Parking fines are a HUGE revenue earner for local councils so they aren't going to give them up and when you try and do the right thing and get a permit, they slug you even more. Win/win for them, lose/lose for the poor bugger trying to earn enough to survive.

Combine the parking debacle with the destruction of any decent useable thoroughfares, or more importantly backstreets, for traffic around this city and my earning capacity plummets. I should probably move to a $100 or 120 minimum charge, but are you going to pay that for a tap washer, or a cistern rubber? Could I look at myself in a mirror if I charged it? Suddenly the good points of doubling the residential density of the city fade when you have to pay your plumber twice as much as you did three suburbs away.
Woops, I said rant, off. um, lovely weather out there :o

You asked the wrong person about paying for replacement of tap washers or cistern rubbers, I replace my own - and hubby and I replaced the hot water service a few months ago without any intervention from a licensed plumber. ;)
Although, in our defence, all the plumbers up here are retarded - there you go, maybe you should move to the Central Coast. Lots of work for a half-decent tradie.
You are right, however, it is a huge problem, how does a tradesman or anyone else who works out of their vehicle legitimately go about their business in the CBD and inner city areas these days?
And the weather out here is foul today, rain squalls every 20-30minutes. The guys up at Calga will be so happy - not!
