The Thread about Nothing....
from the latest RBR newsletter:
"These people, they ride all day long and they drink beer. They eat pork chops, eat fries, they keep riding. It's a hell of a lot more fun than the Tour de France." -- Lance Armstrong on RAGBRAI
Maybe the guy is human after all! :D

this may bear no relevance, but...
DIATRIBE .....
Your first mistake was going anywhere near Bondi Junction - better factor in parking fines to that quote. The parking officers around there are vicious, second only to the evil bastards who patrol Bondi itself.
Anyway, the good karma went to the guy who found your tools, so guess you better go and save a kitten from a tree or something to build up some karma credits.
And on a note of comfort, trouble always comes in threes - so I guess you have one more parking ticket coming up. :p

Okay, so I've had a read through everything. Good points everywhere.
On an ethics POV, I won't pay for editorial, directly or indirectly. Saying things like "You might want to advertise with us if we run this editorial" is a cop-out, so cyclingnews and Ride magazine is out from my understanding. If the media does not want to support local business and would rather lick the bums of the multinationals, I don't want any part in that.
The problem is I don't have the cash to swing USD300 an issue for a piddly little magazine advertisement and I'm not convinced it's effective advertising anyway. It's effective for the big companies because they have a large degree of saturation thoughout every issue, but one 1x3" thing in the back or a magazine for a grand a year? Can't see the value.
So obviously that leaves us with bro-deals and guerilla marketing and the internet. Well, I'm doing that in an okay way I think. Open to suggestions though, of course.
I'm interested in the Austrade thing and I'll keep that in mind, but some little design company that's sold a few dozen frames with no capital and shit cashflow? I'm not sure what they can do for me.
Cheers for the info guys and keep it comin'.

Kotter:
If you want play night cricket in the park, the Topeak Whitelight HP is the latest and greatest. The 1W globe is about $80, the 3W about $180, the Li-Ion battery pack about $180. This battery pack is about the size and weight of a mobile phone and attaches to the stem.

Is designing/producing a lesser quality frame/bike to (hopefully) saturate the Club and/or unafilliated rider segment? Something with 105/Sora, and frame tubing to match, yet using your frame design, etc.
If it's possible, compare Trek and Lotus in the 80's: a bunch of mid quality bikes (albeit with some nicer bits than one would expect at the price point, esp Lotus) with a couple of diamonds and rubies at the top. Trek made it to the big time, or rather became the big time, and Lotus is gone, at least here in Merka.
Plus, you'll have made this conversation possible:
1st Rider: I see we've both got Thylazines.
2nd Rider: Sorry mate, that's a Thylazine, this here is a Thylazine.
1st: Wot's the diff?
2nd: If you have to ask...
Fistfight breaks out.
