by the way, the 'junk' bike always starts as Sora or old 105, but invariably ends up at least as an Ultegra bike :) My crap bike started as a mix of 8sp Shimano 600 and 105, and is now a mix of 9sp Ultegra and Dura-Ace...ooops.Yeah, my 1984 Miyata, that I bought new, now has Dura-ace 10 speed DT shifters and a ten speed cassette. Nice. It all works fine with the 1984 Sugino crankset.
Has anyone ever tried those 10 speed Dura-ace indexed DT shifters? They are very neat and oh so quick and smooth. Who needs brifters.
Buying an old steely makes a lot of sense and you can get an Ultegra FD for $40 and a RD for $80 from probikekit, and the Dura-ace shifters you can get locally for $80 too. You can get a nice shifting bike for not much money.

I can do it in one hyphenated word:
hyper-inflation.
Weimar - early years. Way more complicated than that. The real hyperinflation wasn't until the late 20's anyway.

Thylo,
thanks for the consideration and not publicly crucifying Koffee.
Now I've got to go see what pigmode and the other seppo are
whinging about. . . .
And for the record, I thought seppo was one of the Marx brothers. . .
martyDamnit Marty, and here I was thinking I held the record for the worst years-as-member-to-posts-ratio, and you've got me beat!
6 posts in 4 years is a top effort mate! I happily bow to the master.
I wouldn't worry about anoyone else on BF. Pigmode is just a schitzo and Anthony I can deal with.
I have to say, I can now see why Isreal and palestine won't behave. Biffo can be a lot of fun, especially if you lead hollow, meaningless existances like most of us! ;)
So yeah, Campy vs Shimano.......hrm.........errr........

When Mr Garrison invented the alternative method of transport?

I dunno if this has been posted. This thread moves too fast.
Landis's T/E test was a ratio of 11to1. What was the limit again? 4to1? haha http://www.cyclingnews.com/news.php?id=news/2006/aug06/aug01news2
B sample result is expected on Saturday (is that Euro time?). Landis expects it to confirm the result of the A sample.

They are way lighter than brifters, so how come the weight weenies aren't all over them?

I think Snedden was rumoured to have carked it "on the job" after attending a campaign launch for John Howard in the 80s

They are way lighter than brifters, so how come the weight weenies aren't all over them?Because that would suggest that weenies are actually smart and actually ride.
