Any advice greatfully accepted. I went out last week on my MTB, put in about 20 miles on relatively hilly terrain, but nothing I hadnt done before, and woke up the following day with a lot of lower back pain.

The only differences are a rear shock set to 6in of travel and working as it should, and tires pumped up to about 60psi so the bile handled a little differently. Oddly enough the pain eases off when I cycle but comes back with avengance a couple of hours after I stop.

Help :(

do a search as this topic was recently covered........one additional tidbit of info, mtn biking often triggers my low back as well, due to the low gearing, terrain and torque required.....strengthen thy core!

I am not sure if your problem is bike fit, but you and others may also be an interesting website (http://www.spine-health.com/topics/anat/a05.html) for reference if the problem persists.

I am currently going through recovery for a possible herniated or bulging disc myself and had to cut out mt. biking for the moment. I plan on continuing road riding since the pavement provides a smoother riding surface.
