I bought my first set of clipless pedals. Crank Bros. Eggbeater C. Awesome design and simplicity. I love them so far. One rookie clipless pedal question tho...should they be making creaking noises with every stroke? Wasn't sure if this was normal or if there is some unnecessary binding going on with the cleats. I have Specialized Sport MTB shoes. The clearane to the soles seems fine..i get the appropriate amount of float. Just wanted to make sure this is normal....or not.

thanks.

I actually ended up Googling this issue. Not entirely uncommon. Many suggested greasing the surfaces of the cleats and/or the pedals themselves where they contact the cleats. I did that and it actually worked pretty well. Eliminated any noise from the left pedal with a little still in the right. I just lightly greased the pedals. Actions are smoother too. Anyway, you can't really hear it on a trail anyway. Has to be a pretty quiet situation..road, etc.
