If its a drop bar one, Aldi had some 2x7 speed recently.
Cell bikes have entry level below $400: http://www.cellbikes.com.au/category.php?id=2&p=4&s=1&o=a&id=2&PHPSESSID=ee6069d24e27aa0eb4549ee3633a77fd
Avanti Prima 2x7 speeed 2XS size only can be bought for about $450 or less.
Giant CRX4 2006 can be bought for around $500 on sale.

$400AUD isn't a great enough budget to get a decent roadbike, It depends if you want Brandnew or Second hand aswell, you asked for a good Brand, and the cheapest 'good Brand' road bike i can think of is the Advanti sprit at $700AUD last time i checked, i'm not too sure, I just brought my first roadbike and that was $1000 which doesn't include all the things i need with it aswell, pump, kits, gloves, lights, tools bottle cage... etc. list goes on. however, with a budget of $400 I would suggest a second hand bike

You seem right tripped although $449 isn't bad and i'm talking just about the bike itself. Another question, when it says
Available Sizes

59cm
56cm
from which part of the bike is it referring to?
thanks for all the replies.

Edit:
Also what's the brand Atomik Mamba like? I see they're rather cheap on ebay but I guess it's you get what you pay for

The Cell Bike Geometry Page: http://cellbikes.com.au/forum/index.php?topic=4.0

The atomic is only in one size and a 7 speed 14-28 spin on freewheel. The shifters are the butterfly ones up near the stem. http://www.cyclingforums.com/t342041.html

I have seen other Junior bikes with better specs.

The Aldi bike at $199 is better value. http://www.cyclingforums.com/t315064.html

Go for a bike with at least an 8 speed cassette freehub. (Cell, Learsport)

$400 isn't a lot to play with. I'd go second hand with that kind of budget. You should be able to pick up a Giant TCR 2000/2001 model with 105 for about that much. Have a poke around on eBay and see what you can find.

It will be a much better bike than anything you can get new for $400.

Hey everybody.

We've received a lot of good feedback about our CELL Bikes S-2200 (www.cellbikes.com.au/p_211_CELL_BICYCLES__S2200_Beginner_Road_Bike)and have done our best to continually upgrade the range.

We now do them in sizes ranging from 46cm to 62cm!

Thanks for your input!
