Help deciding on new hardtail
After cycling for the past few years I have decided to get into basic mountain biking racing. I am looking for a hardtail and want to spend around $1,000 US. I can't decide what brand to go for and which one is best for the money. Some of my choices are Trek, Specialized, Fisher, Cannondale.
What would be some of the better features I should be looking for also...disc brakes, fork travel etc.
I would probably use this bike mainly for off road racing but also commuting.
Thanks:cool:

KHS Alite Team. You can get a 2.3LB raceworthy superfast frame for like $200, and put on the parts you like. It is a less known company and so is a little less expensive. Check out the reviews on MTBR.com
