First ride to work on a work day
Ok,
I have been reading the site for some time and getting ready to become a cycling commuter. I will start by saying all I know about cycling at this point is that you peddal and it goes. After reading alot of the post on here I have learned that there are a lot of amazing cyclist out there all over the world.
so anyway, today was the first commute on a business day. My first test ride was on Easter Sunday due to the fact that I knew there would be little traffic. My concern was not the distance but the road. I get to ride 8.11 miles through the historac Civial war battle ground in its self sounds awesome and I will say it is pretty cool. What is not cool is that the road is also a main traffic artery for commuters and is only one lane either way with out a bike lane. So needless to say there are a few nerves on my part hoping that the cagers are not on the cell or leaning over trying to pick up any makke up or pen they may have dropped to take down a number while crusing at 55 miles per hour.
This morning I thought I would be smart and try an alternative route to the office trying to keep off the road as much as possible. There is a path that goes through my neighborhood that I was pretty sure would cut off some time. According to the map at the begining of the course it would do that. Ok so by now you know I can not read a map. One wrong turn and 30 minutes later I ended up further out than I started and in a hairier spot.
Good news is I made it. All limbs intact. I look forward to more commuting and faster times.
cheers
