Wow that must be something I didn't realize they had a bicycle hill climb all I could google was a running race. Not just one, but three races with three separate courses to climb up Mt.Fuji.:)

Okay, okay.
You did look a little warm in that video:rolleyes:

Procrastinating.
Tyson, that's what you're doing.
Buy a powertap and a KK.
That is all.
Ah, I could surprise you soon; I'm working on it.
My wife seems pretty happy with the idea, as long as I put the money back in the account when I pick up my pension lump sum in July.:D

I got the battery for the KK computer and I'm back in business I also moved the sensor of my other Bike computer to the rear wheel for some power based training fault tolerance in the future.

I'm thinking of getting the new Powertap SL2.4. However, over in the power forum Des wrote:

Well, took about 3 hours but it's crapped out already:mad:
My SL 2.4 recently purchased has ceased to function.
There is no transmission from the hub.
I have only used it for 2 hours indoors and then today 1 hour into a road cycle I lost data from the hub. CPU retained data gathered but no further data from hub.
I changed all the batteries , cpu, hub and heart strap.
Went to setup 5 to relearn devices, relearnt the heartrate strap but nothing from the hub.
Auto reply from Saris, so now I wait.

I'm waiting to hear from Saris (indirectly) and elsewhere as to whether this is a common problem before I take the plunge. Stay tuned. Tyson

I never thought in a million years that Tyson would join the power meter club. Next thing you know he will be calculating various figures and abreviations.

Oy,oy less of the cheek. I'm working on my maths. Let's see 2+2= 3 or was it 4. Anyway, it's somewhere near there.http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d150/tinkletinkle_/new_silly1.gif

Well it did work for 3 hours:rolleyes:
24 hours and still waiting for Saris to reply:(
After just a taste of what the PT and Cyclingpeaks has to offer all I can say is, how can you afford NOT to have one.
Cannot imagine how awful it must be to have used power for a good while and then not to have it.
Addictive, even after 3 hours.
At least with the 2.4 you know it isn't the harness;)

It's really that good then. Pehaps you could be a little bit more explicit in telling us (those without) why a powermeter is second only to sex.:D

No b*llshit, no lying to yourself " gosh that was hard" it is just the TRUTH.
You can then dissect it to the nth degree or you can just look at the big picture and move on.
This is after 3 hours of data.
Nothing like a recent convert for fervour and zeal:D
Just need Saris to come to the party (email me dammit) and the journey can continue.

Looks like I'll have to wait a while before getting my Powertap considering all the ongoing problems. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d150/tinkletinkle_/0891.gifhttp://www.cyclingforums.com/t381473.html

Welp, I did my first "ride" on the Kurt Kinetic today. I had to adjust the roller down pretty tight to get rid of the slippage. That's more likely the fact that I really need to change tires soon than anything else. Tire pressure was also a little low.

I put "ride" in quotes, because the only thing I did a trainer ride for in a very beautiful day was to take advantage of a couple of up days on the TSB slope to do a MAP test for the first time. YEOWCH! I set the trainer up on the back porch outside, put my oldest son on the laptop to tell me the wattages using Ric's handy web based wattage counter and off I went.

The KK wasn't steady enough to do 5 watt increments in 12 second intervals, so I was doing the full 25 watts every minute. It wasn't too bad until I started to get to the 400 watt mark (starting from 175), then the pain kicked in. I attempted to stand through most of the 400 watt interval, but the 425 watt mark was where I started to break down.

I should have stayed seated because by standing the power just "feels" different. I made a pacing mistake and stood instead of grinding out the remaing time period and the 3 seconds it took me from sitting to standing back to sitting killed my last minute average.

Anyway... MMP for the last 1 minute was 419. I'm not too excited about that. I think if I was smarter about the pacing at the "breaking down" mark I probably could have done the 424-425 that the watts would have averaged out without the "stand up" drop to 310-319 for three seconds. What I wouldn't do for a ergo!

What I wouldn't do for a ergo!LOL. I'm sure you threw that in just to wind me up as you know RD suggested I go the ergo way.
It would mean however, having to work on my wife from the beginning again.

No, I shall forgo the ergo! The stress involved in making a decision is getting to me.
I think I shall take up http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d150/tinkletinkle_/www_MyEmoticons_com__smoke1.gif TYSON

Anyway... MMP for the last 1 minute was 419.That's good going. Certainly it can't be easy without an ergo. I'm lucky in that I use my friend's Computrainer for these tests and she controls the ramp. It sure makes it good for a repeatable test protocol. I stay seasted throughout. Last time I did one I managed 399W.

Yeah, but I probably outweigh you by a bit. In the world of cyclists, I still feel like a beast at 77 kilos.

Actually, the KK felt exceptionally smooth today. For the occasional test day, it wouldn't be worth the cost of the ergo. When I get back to the states I'll try to find someone with a computrainer to do the tests on if I can. Otherwise, I'll just continue to do them on the trainer. I got everything I needed from this MAP test, which was really just a "trial run" for one on the schedule at the end of the month.

Alex, do you use the 5W/12s protocol? Where do you start?Yes
Upper L1/lower L2 I'd suggest.
Read about my MAP Test here (http://alex-cycle.blogspot.com/2006/12/map-testing-where-failure-is-success.html).
