It would probably blow you off your bike.........

Congrats on having 1000 posts Tyson :) .

Definitely the 5M176 (http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/wwg/itemDetailsRender.shtml?ItemId=1611782193).... that's going to give you some SERIOUS cooling :eek:Maybe even some wind tunnel testing at the same time. You could put the trainer on a skateboard and see how long it takes to blow you into the kitchen. :D

LOL Is having 1000 posts to be congratulated?

I take it you are No.1000 - right!

RD, you did buy some new medals didn't you?:D

After reading Lucy's post, I can only get down on my knees and thank God for providing me with an excellent nearby gym. I couldn't stand all the hassle of wheels here, spokes there, sprockets all over the place; chains, cranks, grease, oil, spanners, wrenches, screwdrivers, cables, levers and whatever else is necessary to be able to do power training.

I think if I had to go through all that, I would become an HRM fan, and that's saying a lot.;)

Power training? I thought all that stuff was necessary for any cyclist.

Lucy, it's not necessary to get some special industrial fan. A plain, square, box fan from Wal Mart or Target would do fine if you have a table or something to put it on so that it blows on your torso. Otherwise, get a freestanding round one that's about waist high.

Huh???? I mean do factories, warehouses, etc all shut down? Because I'm thinking, people still need and use fans, so I am going to have to try some other places.

I got a great laugh from this post. I have a vivid image of the whole scenario. I'm guessing every hardware store in town will be getting a call today about their stock of fans. Try Grainger Industrial Supply http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/wwg/productIndex.shtml?originalValue=fan&L2=Floor&operator=prodIndexRefinementSearch&L1=Fans%2C. They are oriented to dealing with businesses and you need an account, but sometimes they will set up a courtesy account for retail customers. Good luck.:D
Glad you enjoyed it and thank you for the tip - I haven't sweated that much in, er, um, never mind!

Down with PM's! Bring back the HRM! Beep-beep-beep

I no longer have a living room, ahem, but this is temporary though of course, it has to be tidied up. A gym is convenient for certain but then I can train at home in whatever get-up I want and not worry about creeps, onlookers, suitors, and annoying music, etc.... :D

Thanks for reading!I wonder if I fall into that category:confused: :)

I had a lady in spin class tell me not to place my bike next to her's.
I hope it was more to do with me always having sweat streaming profusely during the class.

LOL - 6" might be a tad close when you're the only 2 bikes in the room -- creep! :D

Fortunately this is the internet, so there's no need to worry about weirdos here.

Pleased to see you understood what I meant Luce, Frenchy seems to to have missed the key words - all over the place. I like all those bits and bobs on my bike, not all over the living room floor. Your hero, ahem, Tyson;)

What? Sure fans are a seasonal item, but haven't they ever heard of "Trainer Season?" ;)

Hmmm.... should this thread be renamed: "The serious riders' Bike Cafe?" :p

Well, of course you'd have the parts on the bike, you SillyOldTwit!:p

The floor, shelves, dining room, garage, basement, bedroom, car trunk, etc. are for the spare parts. I got what you meant, but I thought every cyclist had at least 1-2 additional bike carcasses laying around the house in spare parts -- ala Dr. Frankenstein. Maybe it's just me. :o

Frenchy, you're always complaining about this thread, however, it has been noticed that you keep returning for more.:D

Mind you, coming up to 50,000 views soon must say something.

Perhaps people like to be entertained while being trained. Now there's an idea for renaming this thread.

Hey guys, how cool would it be to pick up a lady for a date and see this in front of the TV instead of a couch?

It's even a Trek instead of that fancy-schmancy I-tal-ian crap. That means she's low-maintenance (and even does her own maintenance). :D

"Be trained, pained, and entertained";) Well, the real Bike Cafe (http://www.cyclingforums.com/f47-the-bike-café.html) forum is sub-titled "Have a good time, make new friends," so that sounds appropriate.

Half agree, half disagree....I use an 'industrial' type fan (after years of struggling with a small box type) and it makes a HUGE difference. Quite often I will put a t-shirt on for the first 10 minutes or so to stop getting 'cold' but really appreciate the huge volumes of air it blows over me later on in the work out. The down side is that its REALLY (and I mean REALLY) noisy :o
