I'm fairly new to power training and I'm still getting my head around some aspects of it.

As you improve do you change your levels? If so how often? coming from HR training your HRs #s are pretty static (+/- 3 bpm) no matter how good you get.

my power numbers are different indoors and outdoors and also, i imagine will change as the cycling season ramps up would you adjust your zones evey time you do a test and observe a change (every couple of months or so) and even use different zones indoors and outdoors...?

Yes, adjust your power numbers as fitness changes. It's really not necessary to do a test, as threshold power (I'm assuming this is how you're defining zones) can be predicted fairly closely by long intervals aimed at improving functional threshold, normalized power from a hard 1-hr race, etc.

BTW, what are you using to measure power both indoor and outdoors?

Yes, adjust your power numbers as fitness changes. It's really not necessary to do a test, as threshold power (I'm assuming this is how you're defining zones) can be predicted fairly closely by long intervals aimed at improving functional threshold, normalized power from a hard 1-hr race, etc.

BTW, what are you using to measure power both indoor and outdoors?PT SL... mostly on rollers, but i also use a blackburn fluid trainer to do sprints with... mostly collects dust though... i really hate stationary type trainers... feels so un-natural to me, messes up my spin.

I would use the same training levels then, and realize that the benefits may be lessened indoors if you can really create less power. Although as you get used to riding indoors with a pm it may come back up, if it's just a perceived exertion thing.
