there are a lot of post on men wearing womens cycling shorts and I guess you really can't tell a difference of the two. Such as someone saying "check him out, he's wearing womens shorts"
How about bibs, are there many differences in a mans/womans? The different padding yes, but what else could be different? I guess I'm asking because I won a bib on ebay that turned out to be a womens and before I throw it out or wear it, I want to know if there is a significant difference in the two genders apparel.
It is all black with a zip up front and has a tank top type upper.
After all, lycra is lycra, right?

Probably just the padding - different shapes for men and women to cover different parts :)

Of course it depends on what manufacturer made them; they can do whatever they want to. I find that men's shorts (just like all men's pants) sit lower on the waist than women's do. I am a female with a fairly well-endowed chest, and I have just recently discovered that bibs are MUCH more comfortable than pants because there is no elastic digging into your waist! I would think that the differences between men's and women's bibs would be the width of the straps (wider for women to get around anatomy?) and possibly some differences in the pad, as MtnBikerChk said. In looking at pants and bibs in the stores, the men's pads seem to be more substantial than the womens. The stuff is so much better, in fact, that I'm now hooked on men's bibs!
