Hi there,

I'm in Upstate NY (Adirondacks/Lake Champlain area) Great cycling mecca. lol I love to ride the road and also get off onto a nice trail! I am a Police Officer and yes I am a "Bike Cop" I teach bicycle safety in Elementary School and also instruct other cops how to ride.

I was invovled in a serious car vs. bike crash. Check my website for more on that!

I ride a KHS Flite2000 on the road and a Trek6700 on the trails. I am also the owner of LightCycles! A Bike Shop that I run out of my garage! Need a new Bell/Giro Helmet? Some Pearl Izumi Clothing? Sockguy socks? Bicycle Parts and accessories? Want 20% off? Email me!

Ride safe and ride often! Keep the rubber side down! I look forward to hearing/seeing the postings!

:) I'm from Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. I work for a well known cheese factory. I was injured in 2002 and had back surgeryin Jan.2004. Now I broke my leg from a falldoen the basements steps and sprung my left ankle. At work there are a lot of people who ride their bikes to work and some also race. I have the old fashion bike ya know the grandma bike! Like to ride when I can. I'm actually from Hershey Nebraska. I read that you were in my home town. To set the record straight about the two guys you spoke with. They DO NOT own the Hershey Flying Service. I should know, my dad and his brother have owned it for 55 years. My dad lives on the property and he's there everyday. He turns 85 today and is still going. It's along highway 30 and when us kids got off the bus we always had bicycle riders setting near the ditch eating their lunch and watching the agcats being built. For those who don't know what an agcat is it is a double wing by-plane used for spraying. They are agcat yellowand grey. We'd tell dad that somebody was up by the ditch and he'd go and talk to them, so maybe he has spoke to you. There were all kinds of people stopping to take a look at the planes and one guy said he had to take pictures of the old world war 2 planes. We just laughed cause we knew they weren't. We used to get up early in the morning to push them out of the hanger so dad could go spray. I just wanted to set the record straight and I can't believe someone would say they own something when they don't.

I love to watch the bike riders when they come down our road. I watch them through my bay window. I wish I could be out there doing that but I think my bikibg days are done and will leave it up to my grandchildren. One grandson-3yrs. is into dirt bikes and he loves to ride. He just learned and he's on the go all the time when he can. Maybe he'll make a tour like you. http://www.cyclingforums.com/images/icons/icon14.gif

I am from Frankston and I ride as much as I can usually by myself twice a week too and from work (South Melbourne) - 50Klms each way. On weekends 3-4 hours Saturday with some other crazies  and Sunday with a group that leaves from Peninsular Cycles in Frankston at 7.00am to Black Rock or Port Melbourne.

I am a Senior Manager of a large Exporting business.

Funny reading this how many middle aged IT geeks there are riding...Maybe being stuck in front of a PC all day encourages you to get out and enjoy daylight when you can.

Cheers

Andrew C[/QUOTE]
might just be that more middle aged IT geeks have a propensity to post on forums on any topic. I suspect that if you were reading a thread on gerbils, it would appear that there were a lot of middle aged IT geeks who were gerbil fanciers.

I'm a middle aged accountant/soon to qualify lawyer with some IT history, but my IT knowledge (or lack of it) now probably does not qualify me as an IT geek. I currently work in East Perth and I'm a 5 day a week bike commuter from Kensington.

Glad to see you made it back from Iraq! My older brother is a 1st Sgt in a New York National Guard Unit. He was just home on 2weeks leave. Another 3+ months I think!

I was in the 556th MP company (germany)and the 997th MP company Big Red 1 in Ft. Riley. That was years ago! I am a f/t police officer now! I also have bike shop I run out of my garage if you ever need anything! Let me know...I'll give you at least a 20% discount on a Bell/Giro Helmet and any Pearl Izumi clothing!

Ride safe and often!

Pedal On,

Bob Light

I'm from Flagstaff Arizona.

I just got discharged from the US Army after 8 years. Spent most of the last 14 months in Iraq.
Just spend most of my savings on a Litespeed Ultimate. It's a far better bike than I am a cyclist . . . but I'm going to fix that!:D :D

Afternoon people :)

I'm Leo and I'm from Pinner in Northwest London, UK.

I've only got back into riding in the past couple of weeks, as I need to lose some weight which I've put on in the past few years since driving. I used to ride everywhere but have hardly touched my bike recently.

I've had it since I was about 16 or so, and am 23 tomorrow. She's served me very well, altho the BB bearing is on its way out I think. I may well be posting in the tech section if I can't work out how to fix it :D

My other passions are my car, a Rover 420 Turbo. I am a member of Rovertech.net forums and have met quite a few new friends on there, perhaps the same will happen here :)

Cheers for now
Leo

Yo hey - I'm Michael, from Austin, TX and I provide pace for Lance on all long hill climbs and extended rides...

 Not.

But I am from Austin and I've seen the man at work. I can tell you a story of one time in particular... truly amazing. Especially so since the very same pavement absolutely lays waste to the rest of us.

...like it or not this would include you as well. No offense.

Anyhow, I'm 41 yrs old, 5'-11", 210# and I ride a purple Klein MTB primarily on the road. Kind of the 'linebacker' of the peloton, so to speak. Did the 43 mi loop of the RFTR averaging 18.1 mph with all terrain tires. STIFF return wind. Yeehaw!! Maybe if I can get hooked up with the planned Trek SL I can up that a little but, alas, I know I'll never keep up with most of you!!

Stay safe everybody and be kind. MJH

I am from the Chicago Burbs. Just got my MTB yesterday for my 31st birthday. It is a 05 Specialized Hardrock Sport. I hope to drop a few pounds by starting to work out again and incorporating biking and swimming to keep it interested. I am a Sr. Claims Adjuster for a midwest insurance company. Later.
