I live in a town just north of Boston and teach in a town nearby. I have been riding a recumbent for a little over a year, a Baron by Optima which given the rural character of the area that I live suits me just fine.

Your first century next week, take a tip from me spend a good few days before hand carbo loading and hydrating. it will be of great benefit to you during your century, try to cut down your rides a few days before if its just reduced to light spinning. so that you have more chance of ensuring that you retain enough those extra carbs and additional fluids. trust you'll need'em.any how best of luck.
Thanks for the tips, and the reminder that I need to think about carbs and water before the ride, not just the morning of. My training has been...well, unstructured. Short, fast rides (typically 15-25 miles) after work. Not a lot of long, slow rides. I decided last week to do this century, and have little time to train for it. I'll do a couple 50 milers, and try to get a feel for lower HR riding. I know it's all about energy management.

I'm from Texas and I am the General Manager of Service Operations for a large Caterpillar dealership. I'm a novice at this and am looking forward to learning from more experienced riders on this forum. My wife and I intend to buy two Tadpole style Recumbent Trikes for our mutual Christmas gifts this year. At this point it appears that we'll be buying two Organic Engines "Triclops" models. Comments would be appreciated as we are really making this particular selection due to a local distributer being available. Without this "local connection" we were going to buy two WizWheelz Tera Trikes. Input on this decision would be helpful as we are not yet committed, but will soon be.

finally someone understands. I'm from central ma., working in construction. Bike of choice GT id 1.0. I ride 4 to 5 times a week rain or shine. It's the best mind eraser. Single track has truly helped me getting through some diffacult times. I would like to find a mb club locally to join can someone help? I consider myself responsably daring at 41 and would consider racing. Is there any charity rides or races in mt biking?

Hello to all:)
I enjoy cycling, both road and mtb. I cycle to/from work 3 days a week (25-30k each way, that's about 20 miles), 1 lunchtime I do some specific weight training and do either 1 long outing at week end (other day I rest) or 2 medium outing. In the period April to mid October I take part in races at amatour level.
Average riding time 10 hours per week, total km p.a. apprx 10,000 (6,000 miles). Equipment: road Carrera with Campagnolo record/chorus and mtb Rocky Mountain Element, marzocchi front and shimano XT group.
Love to MTB in the US, was there in 2000, plan to go back for a long holiday next year.

Hello cycling world,
I am Mark from Holland, and am a cycling enthusiast for some 10 years now. Both road and dirt cycling. I ride a carbon LOOK KG241 (2002 model :) ) on road and an old Koga Miyata Sky Alloy (1996 model ;) ) off road.
For now, I am looking for some good tips on rebuilding my old MAG21 Rock Shox front suspension (are there any upgrade kits still around?). I cannot find a replacement fork, as nowadays forks are much higher than the MAG21. Inserting a new fork will change the geometry of my bike way too much.
Good tips anyone?
Hi Mark! I share your MAG21 concerns. I have a 1990 Merlin hardtail that has a MAG21 with a 1 inch steerer. I have no intention of selling the bike; it still rides like a dream. I have found complete forks on e-bay for around $100 in good working order; I also see rebuild kits there once in a while. There is also a website you should know about that last time I checked still had MAG21 parts. They are in Oregon and the address is: www.loosescrews.com. Hope that information is helpful. :^))

Hi Ray
Great track picture!! Is that you or what??:)
Thanks for the tip. Loosescrews is a very nice link (that you cannot find with just using Google). I check out eBay once in a while, but the complete forks I saw are in America, and will probably give problems with shipping to Holland.
I tried to find a new fork to replace my MAG21, which is impossible because of the lengths. But the old MAG is not bad at all (maybe a bit too much stiction) and is very light for an old fork (thanks to the air). As I still love my old bike I will take the trouble of finding parts. ;)
