Hello to all in the forum,

Just picked up a used road bike to get myself back into shape. My goal is to ride the Hotter than Hell 100 in Texas next year. I am a 35 yo pilot with the Dutch Air Force stationed in Texas. Thanks to all, posting in this forum, it has been an invaluable source of information for me.

Ben

Good luck, That's not an easy one but with a year to get read it'll be a snap.
be hydrated, be verrry hydrated. and if your not, be afraid although sometimes the things you see during heatstroke can be interesting.

I'm from Texas currently enjoying Canada

Hi folks - just discovered this site and thought I'd sign up.

I'm from Edinburgh, Scotland and I'm a programmer. I've been a big fan of road racing since I realised back in '98 that the Tour de France wasn't boring after all :D. My favourite rider is Lance (sorry...) and I also like Tyler (unless he fails to clear his name) and Ivan Basso.

I'm a bit of a fair weather cyclist, which I guess means not very often at all here in Scotland! Recently rode the Glasgow to Edinburgh Pedal for Scotland charity ride for the second time, though, despite the fact that it never stopped raining. Ambition is to one day ride Alpe d'Huez....

Looking forward to some interesting chat and healthy debate ;)

Well, I'm from Hungary, I work the Hungarian Euro<26 as an office leader! I'm not riding myself, because of an injury in my left knee, but I love watch the road races on TV!:)

I'm from Pretoria, South Africa and I've got a Custom Cabinetry Business. Had a terrible cycling (MTB-ing) year so far but things look like they are back on track again - should be ready for racing first thing in the new year.

Right now I'm only training indoors - got myself a Mag trainer and a Mountain Bike Slick!!!

Anyone got an idea how to accurately HR train if you've got a VERY irregular heartbeat?

I am from Southlake TX and have decided to get serious about cycling - I'm a mom of 3 sons - 17 to 22 - and have always been athletic and enjoyed riding. I'm looking to buy the SIX13 R2000 Compact Drive Cannondale.......any opinions? I want to join a riding group and participate in events.

Hello, My name is Jose. I am from Chicago, Illinios. I am a Systems Adminstrator. I am facinated with Bicycles. I am relatively new to cycling and would like to explore this a bit more. I currently own a Bianchi pista - All black with celeste decals (for city riding), a shitty trek and Trek y-11 mountain bike. I am currently builing a black and yellow univega modo volare (all campy Daytona). I am only missing a headset, ergo cables and pedals. I am also gathering parts for a retro ride. All campy chorus 1st generation and cinelli stuff. That is all for now.

Hi, I am Rick and I live in New Franklin, Missouri. I am only a mile from the Katy Trail, a hard packed gravel bike trail that runs approx. 225 miles across the state. The Katy is where I spend most of my spare time and the fall colors are begining to show and my morning and evening rides are starting to require warmer clothes.

I really enjoy this forum and hold it and all its great contributors responsible for the fact that I am now looking for a good road bike so I can sample another aspect of cycling. My wife helpfully points out that I bought a new bike in August and rolls her eyes when I explain that that bike (a Trek 7200FX) is for the trail and it should be obvious that I will need a different bike to ride on the streets and highways. Her reply, "Whatever." lol

I am not an active poster but will try to contribute if I can.

Hi. My name is Leo and I now live in Seattle WA. In spite of the rain I bike to work (I'm a professor at the University of Washington) every day on my converted cyclocross. Evenings and weekends I head out for a 30 mile loop or interval training on the road bike I've dreamed of for yeas and finally bought. Now I'm completely hooked and am gearing up to do my first ever road races and time trials in the coming year.

I have been cycling since I was 8 years old, never competivitly. I am 47 years old and comute dailt to work. Its only 14 miles round trip but it keeps
me up for longer rides. I work as an auto repairman and enjoy working on my bike. This year I plan to ride during winter weather, if it doesnt snow too much and am looking forward to the challange.
