...What's it like riding in Malaysia? must be crazy hot  at times...G'day, Jacques. Where I am in Borneo is hot, but not too crazy. I spent 2 years over in Kuala Lumpur and riding there was hot and crazy - several coming togethers with mobile tinwork.
I ride an old fixed-wheel over here (there're only a few hills around). The bike is headed back to Australia where my family are because I'm transferring to sunny Equatorial Guinea in West Africa (how smart is that?). The good part (and it's the only good part) is that I'll be working month on / month off, so I'll be able to get back riding in Aussie. Perth has a good race scene (for stragglers like myself), and the weather's rideable all year long.
As to your geographical physics question, when I've drunk too much, I never remember which way it spins, or whether I looking from the top down, or the bottom up.
Regards,
Eoin
We've had some bother with Oz wankers in the past, so we have to be a bit careful, even though BRF and myself can pull of their legs and wings off 'em...G'day, Fred. I'm actually a Kiwi wanker. I always harboured ambitions of becoming an Oz wanker, but never quite made the grade.
I'm sorry to read of all the friends and mentors you fella's have been losing lately. It's to be expected as you grow older, but it doesn't make it any easier.
Anyway, this is not my forum, so I'll get m' jacket, but it was nice to drop in.
Cheers to you all.

Just remember this: if you want to win a race sometime at some point you have to be in the lead perferably before the line so get to the front and stay there. Simple as that!!!!:D
I hope you get some warmer weather before you run out of brazing flux:p
See you
Let me see if I've got this right. What youre saying is that to win a race you need to get to the front at some point in the final kilometre and that it's particularly useful in the last few metres! That's it, the final piece in the jigsaw. Can't wait for Sunday now!
While we're all swapping training distances I think I'm up there with BRF, need to back off a bit so I still have an excuse for 7th equal!:o
As for brazing flux it's all carbon tackle now, so need to source a high quality bonding agent!

Surely no self respecting Kiwi ever wanted to be an Oz W. Spent 5 weeks in NZ this Dec / Jan. Fabulous country, specially S Island. Do come back and visit us from time to time. One of your countrymen remarked that when they were making Lord of the Ringa at Tongariro, Mt Doom to us, they hired thousands of Aussies to be the Auks, apparently it saved hundreds of thousands of dollars on make up!
...they hired thousands of Aussies to be the Auks, apparently it saved hundreds of thousands of dollars on make up!Heh, Heh! Back in the days when many of us were migrating to Oz, it was called the "Brain Drain". Our illustrious Prime Minister, Piggy Muldoon, said that he didn't have a problem with it as we were raising the average IQ's of both Countries in doing so.

Just you keep away from a kiwi called Grahame Stone, he owes bundles of money to my mates in Europe. He's a con man.

We've had some bother with Oz wankers in the past, so we have to be a bit careful, even though BRF and myself can pull of their legs and wings off 'em. Posters Over the Hill and 2006 can emulsify them as well.
I sort of like you now, as the Wild Man of Borneo.
Ignore that Phil Hudson, he just bunked off. What he doesn't realise is that a few of the principals on this site have about 2,500 victories to their name, and he's too fuckin' late. He never did a thing we asked him to do.
He's a wanker.That explains everything!
There I was, sitting on top of my festering dungheap when something fresh and steaming caught my eye.I thought there was something wrong when I launched myself into the air and...rapidly plummeted to the ground! My wings were gone!
Then I looked down and...no legs either!
   Had to drag myself back to the dungheap using my hands and as a result...have had to wank with great difficulty ever since!
Hasn't stopped me though...
But now I understand.
From the base of the dungpile, looking up
Father Jack Crilly :D :D :D

Right you starting to get the gist of it, just feel the adrenaline:eek: when you're on the front it gives you that extra kick you need and just keep accelerating till you cross the line. Try it you'll be amazed at the results (seen on TV)
PS does'nt need to be in the last kilometre but we're not asking for too much JUST YET!!!

I'm intrigued - how do you get the kiwi to stand still, and do you use felt-lined tweezers?

Aha! - all is revealed.
Provides a giggle-making reminder of the struggles our prim (male!) Geography teacher had with that coalfield in South Africa - he always insisted on pronouncing it "er - the Wonky coalfield - er". But then they were all prim 50+ years ago!
What's that got to do with cycling? Well I was putting in about 250 miles a week at that time.
John.

This is a message for the people who knew him on here. I've just been chatting to Ben the Bastard, and he tells me that the good egg, and good rider Brian Lowe dropped dead at work the other week. Brian was probably about 12/13 years younger than me, so that makes it worse. Ben couldn't go to the funeral as he was in Madrid. I know it was well attended, Len was there among many others. Sad news indeed.
Charlie is with and without Raie any more, even though he still lives there, this is because he paid some of the mortgage capital when he won £25,000 on the horses. At present he spends most of his day in the bookies, trying to pull off the same coup again.
I
still love him to bits.
I knew Brian as well. It really puts things into perspective, makes it seem very trivial tocomplain about how badly the training is going. (or not).
As for Ben the B and Len, tell them to get in here, as I only seem to meet them at funerals
Is Chalie at the Gee GEE'S when he is DNS?

Well thats mighty fine of you, after all these years you finally tell us the secret. Now everybody knows, what shall I do?

He's a nowhere man, living in a nowhere land.
At least the temperature has bucked up in the last few days. Suppose you'll have to book tickets and seats at the cafes with the frenzy when they unchain themselves from their turdo's.

Well that doesn't work in Holland, when you're 10 stone 2. It's best to make friends.

Well it never used to happen when I could shift a bit!
Rode in the Lakes today, a 50 miler for 3/4/J. We were set off 4 minutes after the Elite/1/2s on a five mile circuit. By the end of the second frantic lap with half the bunch gone we were all stopped at the roadside because we were about to catch 'em! Five minutes go by, and with our race all back together we were set off again.
Three laps later we caught them - again, this time they were pulled over while we went through, their race was reduced by a lap and we got to do their distance as some kind of reward!
That would never have happened in the 70's. What's happened to self respect? I'd have punctured first.;)
Sorry Jaques, still came about 12th, but I swear I was getting stronger. Must look up the date of the club 24hr champs.
Did get to wear shorts today, pity about the wind and rain though.

Good Lord, what on earth are these Elite things? Is it a new type of carbon banana. I did hear it said that the ones who battered them didn't get many points, and they were fighting in nowhere land to get 60 points as an Elite even if they were last. The boggles mind.
