[QUOTE=limerickman]Dock Road doesn't do trade-ins.
Siopa Rothar in John Street (opposite Barringstons Hospital ) does though.
If you are thinking about trading it in - he'll give you a good deal.
I hope to hear from my buddy toward the end of this week - he's travelling down from Dublin and I'll get a definitve answer.
Are you round the weekend, in case he wants to have a look ?[/QUOTE

It's good to see the old crew returning to have some good conversation about cycling.
Kinda miss the knowledge of people on the old ES site.
Have renewed my subscription to Cycle Sport, I had started to buy ProCycling but it seems to be very LA-centric.
I cannot recall a month recently when it didn't feature LA.
CS is more rounded - enjoyed the articles they did about the different cycling nations.
Holland article was very good : seeing Rooks, Zootemelk & Co.
See, I got the impression that Cyclesport was US centered - the "version" that I was receiving was "CycleSport America" - I started getting Procycling and damned if the one of the first few issues I receive isn't "Lances Chances." Who the F%%#$ cares? It's very early and chances are that he doesn't even ride the tour. Tell me about Cross or something about off season training methods, not more regurgitated crap.
Now, I am off my soap box. Carry on citizens, nothing to see here.

I would like to thank you all for the birthday e-cards I received from the undertaker who takes care of day to day conditions. In the main I was overwhelmed by the generosity of spirit considering that I am half witted. The most amazing one was from my dedicated enemy Basta Ya, who despite the vehemence previously shown has condescended to admit LOL at previous submissions. So arseholes to you, get back on track. At least you had the decency to shake hands.
Sorry buddy, I missed out on that! Happy Birthday! I hope it was ejoyable.

Happy Birthday!
Thank you Phil. Now , how did manage this weekend with lower gearing. Actually what we recommended is within the scope that you will have to ride as a schoolie, and a junior rider.

Cheeky sod you are. Now tell us what is your winter training programme is, if any. We have the remedies to make you a better rider. Right, what races are you thinking of riding next season?

Fiddling around on the BBC news web-site this morning, I was amazed to find this link.

Have a look - much better than you'd expect from a broadcasting organisation which usually regards us lot as freaks.

its about time they started doing some decent coverage, imean the bbc is a worlwide, world famous oganisation, you'd think that they would have started doing this kind of coverage of our sport well before now, wouldn't you?

Nice one John. I don't think I'll post on there. Somebody mentioned on the ES board that they got banned from there for a reasonable criticism of a commentator (HP I suppose).

That's good to know, so I don't think you'll have any problems upping the mileage in the new year. That lot you go out with on a saturday, are any of them juniors, and how many altogether including seniors go out? Are they all part of your sunday club?

There are no juniors there, and the rest are seniors. Hardly any go to the sunday. ( turn outs are about 6-13 people inc myself).
Ps imnot doing the sunday runs anymore as they are too fast, so im riding at my pace at home on sundays.

Also, I need to buy some cycling sunglasses. I currently wear glasses, and would wonder if they would fit under sunglasses? Any other suggestions?
Thanks Phil

Depends whether you want something which works or something which works but which has a fancy name. I found that a pair of standard Polaroid clip-ons did the business, and kept the gnats out, but you have to buy them in the summer, as all the pharmaceutical outlets believe that the sun goes indoors for the winter months.
That said, you could always go to a cycling web-site and buy something fashionable, which I'm told provides a better sex-life than the Polaroids.
But then if you're REALLY putting in the miles that's academic, as you won't be able to find it for its hydraulic function, let alone for sporting use,
Quickly nurse - the screens!
John.

Now Philomena, Let's not hear of talk like that. Just get out with the others on sundays. It's only a few weeks before you get your Turbo. If BRF gets to know of this you'll get a tongue lashing, and fined a weeks wages. Believe us, your proudest day will be when you start half-wheeling them. Future Champs hang on in there. Now stick it out, I've got a few ideas for the new year.
Clip-on sunglasses. Pop in a few opticians shops, you probably find something. Both BRF and I know lots of riders who got pasted by us week after week, but they still turned up for more. One day they hung on by the skin of their teeth and got round. They never looked back after that, and nearly all went on to Pro's or Cat 1's and rode for Great Britain. You can have Xmas day off. How's that for generosity.

Good lad Phil,
Silver spoons are earn't not given in this game. When I was the same age as you, I progressed by looking for trouble from riders who beat me up, a year later I could outclimb the seniors, and beat most of them in a sprint. Job done. Time to move up in class to get beat up again. How do you do this? By training when they aren't, banging the miles in, and there's no Hey Presto. Depends on your volition and ambition. Can you see that Yellow Jersey?
