Happy New Year John and Missus, and when will great occasion take place?Same to you too Fred. The last "great occasion" took place about nine years ago, after which she put a block on the process, I doubt that another is in the offing, as I always felt she'd rather be knitting.

If, however you meant the cycling, try BBC1 Grandstand, 8.1.05, 14.30 on. The schedule says 14.35 - 14.50, but even that may be an exaggeration.

Then try Sunday Grandstand (BBC2) 16.25 onwards.

Ne manger pas de neige jaune.

At least she should tie your scrotum up with some knitting wool, and have a suck. It's called tea-bagging.

Just back in from the Saturday spin 3.5 hours total distance 58 miles.
Weather here is gales (force 6) and raining.
January 8th.

It is really miserable cycling at this time of the year - but it's got to be done.
Better to be out in the road than those bloody boring rollers.

Aaaah yes, but doesn't it make you feel good when you've had a scrub, and sit down with a pot of tea and a doorstep. You can't feel like that after a roller session, with the wife nagging on about the colour of wallpaper.

I have to say the pot of tea is lovely after a spin - especially in this weather.
The strength of the wind in these here parts though has been something else since yesterday.
I thought that there was going to be serious structural damage.

Did you get to see the cycling on the Beeb today ?
Track stuff wasn't it ?

Make the most of that good weather.

Here on the west coast of Ireland - we had a full force 9 storm last night.
Serious gale force winds - ferries have been postponed on all Irish Seas to the UK and Continent.

I was wondering last night if I would get out for a spin today - so I just made the decision to go ahead, regardless.
There is a certain amount of satisfaction when you get out at this time of the year.

Have to say I can see a muddy Bianchi staring at me - oh well, I better start
cleaning her, after all we are supposed to look the part, eh ?

Watched the track on BBC interactive with Hughyawn Porter and Saint Boardman. No Mike Smith commentary for the crowd, that job was given to Willie Moore. Switched over to ES with Duffo and DH in tandem. Duffos off to Australia shortly for the Tour Downunder. To be followed by the Tour of Langkawi, whenever that is. DH said that we shall have a second channel very soon, which should help. Nobody mentioned the MB.

Was watching ES as well and I heard the announcement about a second ES channel for the Tour of Langkawi coverage.
Very interesting.

DD and DH sounded in good form - managed to watch it until there were only
56 laps to go, then my TV was commandeered because Munster were playing the Neath/Swansea Ospreys in the Heinekin Cup !
How did Wiggins do ?
Did the Yank win it ?

Yeah Duffield sounded like he was looking forward to a jolly up in Malaysia - getting his free trip down there.

He made a few mistakes - did you hear him trying to confuse DH about the points system.
He started talking about the individual 5,3,2,1 and then started to mix it about the team points competition.
Talk about trying to complicate things.

I don't think that DH knows that much about track racing, and never has professed to do so.
The point you are questioning vis a vis the points system was that during the points race, and the culmination of points gathered during the event was also inclusive and consequential in trying to salvage, or further a status in the total series of a points system to determine an overall series champion. Therefore some riders, although beaten in this particular event were essaying to salvage a position to keep themselves in contention for the next event in the series, and hopefully be able to improve their position in the long term.
I thought that Duffo put this case across in simple terms during the commentary. Which was something DH never attempted to do for obvious reasons.

BRF, look at this from their angle. They don't know what the MB is going to be.
The Velodrome in Manchester is BCF stuff. They were only telling us that ES is doing bike racing, and when they say that the transmission starts at 3.00pm we won't get messed about by Hen Tinman playing his rain delayed game with a second channel we will join at the appointed scheduled time.
What do you want? Mike Smith and Christi Anderson doing the TDF? If you want to support these two please e-mail poofter sreed@eurosport.com. He can be found at Drury Lane.

ES wouldn't dare try to re-install Anderson and Smith surely ?
These people were dreadful - I have taped all of the TDF stages since 1991
from ES and my 2004 collection is the worst commentary in all those years.
(and remember DD did try commentating with Stephen Roche in 1995 and I thought that 1995 was the all time low in ES commentary).

TDF 2005.
Would ye loik a few Shannon punts on it. Oim just chalkin up d'board. Now de rules are Death, all bets are cancelled. Oim goin' odds on CA to speak on a regular basis during the TDF at 2/1 on. And Mike Smith in the Paris ES dungeon (if only) doing stats with his cheeseboard. 6/4 on. The DD board is no offers at the moment. The Lead will be DH and SK. Now oil take evens on dat. Oim sure oi've got a good book here.
Yes I remember SR with DD but SR was promoting Fromage Coeur de Lion at the time.
Spend your money please. I've got a bookies license.

Another grim day on the bike today - this weather is pretty atrocious.
Still blowing a gale force outside when I went out this morning - after matins.

Met up a few hardy perennials and we did 4 hours out there in dreadful conditions.
Bike is caked again in mud and needs to be cleaned.

Very envious of BRF and his optimum cycling conditions there in Francais.

Bought ProCycling today _ very good interview with Kloden in it.
He's got some very interesting stuff to say about LA.
Klodi reckons that LA hates Ullrich and Pevenage.
When he won that sprint to beat Klodi in the TDF - Klodi says - that LA said sorry there's nothing personal but I had to beat you to the line.
Klodi reckons that LA so despices Telekom that he has it in for them.

Klodi is warning that Telekom in 2005 with Vino, Ulli and himself, on top form, will topple the Milky Bar kid.
See LA Confidential is going to be published in England and the USA.
The french author has said that LA's legal action is lukewarm and there are
going to be more additional details of what Dopeur Armstrong has been up to since the first edition was published.

The net closes in - me thinks.

And that paragon of virtue Hamilton has two new dogs - Anchor and Tanker -
after poor old Tugboat died last year.
Maybe he got the transfusion from Tugboat ?
