Mountain/Mix, uses relatively inexpensive (and relatively heavy) components.
To replace wheels or components with lighter ones wouldn't gain you anything
significant. To achieve a worthwhile weight loss might take some serious
dollars, but then you still have a somewhat heavy frame.

Might I sincerely suggest you ride your Boulder and enjoy it, meanwhile
saving money (start with the $300cdn that you've budgeted for your weight
loss) for a new lighter bike, later. You also will be in a better position
to know what you want, need and like. And at the end of the riding season
there are some fantastic deals to be had as dealers try to clear their
showroom floors.
